Top 5 Reasons I Love the Running Community

Running is the greatest argument killer in our culture today.

I recently was able to do my first in-person race since this pandemic started and began shutting down the world. To say I was excited would be an understatement.

The actual running of the race wasn’t why I was so excited though. I got excited because for the first time in as long as I can remember, I was around a lot of people and there were no arguments.

People from every cultural background you could possibly hope to find gathered in a local park and many ran for 24 hours and there wasn’t one argument to be heard in the entire time.

Nobody questioned why we had to wear masks every time we came across the start/finish of this 3.78-mile course. Nobody argued about why we couldn’t have a support crew at the public park. Nobody argued about not bunching together at the beginning and end of the race.

Nobody argued about the election despite the fact that the next day when we finished, we found out that at some point during that 24 hour period the presidential race had been called by the national media.

With that, here are the Top 5 Reasons in no particular order of importance of why I love the running community.
