💯 STORY CHALLENGE

Day 27 of 💯: Even the earth needs a protector from the sins of man. The forest dreams of such a protector, and so she appears.

The forest closes in around Jörð, but she knows no fear. She is at home in the dark. In the forest, she is one. The creatures know her, and let her pass without challenge, for they recognise the power she does not yet.

The darkness overwhelms her senses, but stray beams of moonlight flitter through the forest’s leafy roof, allowing room to breathe. To understand.

Taking cover under the roots of a giant yew tree, she sleeps. And she dreams. Jörð does not wake. Yggdrasil brings dreams to life.

Her dreams protect the forest from the eyes of the greedy.

Inspired by Zane Dickens 💯 Story Challenge. Let’s see how long I last. One more criteria I’m adding is the stories will be self-published and not in a Medium publication.
